Hollywood Burbank Airport: Flying Convenient This Summer
Named #1 Airport in the US by Fodor’s Travel, Hollywood Burbank Airport is known as the friendliest, most convenient airport for flying to or from Burbank, Hollywood, and the entire Los Angeles area. Top commercial airlines, charter jets, helicopter tours, and hop-on service from the likes of JSX all operate out of BUR. It’s the closest L.A. airport to a majority of the region’s popular tourist attractions.
Safety Guidelines and Cleaning Protocols
The Hollywood Burbank Airport follows State of California requirements for face-coverings when outside the home, which naturally includes your entire time inside the airport. In addition, all airlines require passengers to wear a face-covering in order to board their aircraft.
In addition, two PPE vending machines have been installed in both Terminals A and B, making personal protective equipment readily available by all users of the Airport.
Social distancing is encouraged to create a safe environment for all passengers. Friendly signage is posted reminding passengers to maintain a 6ft distance, and markers have been placed on the floor for queuing at ticket counters, checkpoints, and gates.
The airport has implemented new cleaning protocols with a focus on high-touch areas. Hand sanitizing dispensers have been placed throughout the airport in high-traffic areas. Decontamination of the terminal with an electrostatic backpack sprayer and solution proven to kill viruses takes place nightly, and surfaces are wiped down and public areas are disinfected more frequently.
For your health and safety, some concourse stores and restaurants are open, but others are still closed. Times vary on a day-to-day basis, please check the airport website for a full list.
Flight changes and cancellations are determined by airlines. However, you can check your flight status at hollywoodburbankairport.com/flight-information
For flights, ticket counter and baggage services, along with TSA security screening the following terminals are open:
- Terminal A – is served by American, Southwest
- Terminal B – is served by Alaska, United, and Spirit
- Note, the ticket counter for Spirit is in Terminal A, with other services in Terminal B.
Parking Lots, Shuttle Services, and Rental Cars
Valet parking is available, and curbside pickup and drop-offs are permitted.
Shuttle service to all parking lots is currently suspended. Passengers may park in Lots E, G, and the short-term parking structure, which are within walking distance to the terminals. More info and details about safety protocols can be found here.
You can rent a car on-site at the Airport’s Regional Intermodal Transportation Center (RITC), offering 11 rental car brands and over 1,000 rental car parking spaces in one building.
Or you can escape L.A. traffic by hopping aboard one of the Airport’s many public transportation options. The Airport is served by buses and trains that will take you straight to the heart of Los Angeles, taxis and transportation network companies such as Uber and Lyft that will meet you at designated pick-up spots, and complimentary hotel shuttles that will transport you directly to your Burbank hotel.
Public transportation includes Metrolink, Amtrak, Metro Bus, and BurbankBus.
So, if you’re planning on flying into LA and Burbank this summer, experience for yourself why the Hollywood Burbank Airport is known as the most convenient way to fly.
