Flappers Comedy Club Presents Drive-By Art Gallery Installation

In an effort to “flatten the curve” of fine art installation closures, activist muralist Janet Braun-Reinitz and her son, comedian Dave Reinitz, have created The Drive By Art Gallery by converting the outdoor coming attraction poster boxes at Flappers Comedy Club and Restaurant in Downtown Burbank into 12 “gallery’ walls featuring humorous and moving works relating to the coronavirus pandemic.

Braun-Reinitz curated works by the artists (five of whom are currently living in the New York epicenter of the pandemic), while Dave added most of the titles that put an ironic twist on the images, which range in feeling from gloriously grotesque to hauntingly beautiful.

The club is located at 102 East Magnolia Blvd, and spectators can easily peruse the installation by driving (or walking) northbound on 1st Street towards the intersection of 1st and Magnolia.

Janet Braun-Reinitz is a Brooklyn based public artist and former freedom rider. She has traveled the world, creating murals that reflect issues relevant to their communities. She as a co author of On the Wall: Four Decades of Community Murals in New York City

Dave Reintz is a comedian and a founder of Flappers Comedy Club and Restaurant. His comedy is grounded in a criticism of social injustice. Flappers opened in 2010 and Reinitz and his partner Barbara Holliday have worked to create a supportive, thriving, comedy community. Click HERE to see all of the works.
