51st Annual Saturn Awards Returns to Burbank

The Academy of Science Fiction, the awards ceremony celebrating the best in genre film and television will be held in Burbank, CA on February 4, 2024 at the LA Marriott Burbank Airport Hotel. 

The Saturn Awards are the only awards show that have been honoring the best in genre entertainment since 1972. This year’s show is dedicated to the memory of the Saturn Awards’ dear friends, acclaimed actor and former Saturn Awards host, Lance Reddick, (most well-known for his roles in “Bosch” and the “John Wick” franchise) and legendary filmmaker William Friedkin, (Oscar winning director of “The Exorcist,” and “The French Connection”). Keanu Reeves will be honored with the Lance Reddick Legacy Award which will be presented to him by Titus Welliver. Other awards to be presented that this year’s show include Christopher Nolan for the Visionary Award presented by Emily Blunt and Seth McFarland for the Robert Forster Artist’s Award presented by William Shatner.

Academy President Robert Holguin and Saturn Awards producers Bradley and Kevin Marcus continue, “We are thrilled to announce the return of the Saturn Awards in 2024 and value our continued partnership with ElectricNOW. 2023 has been a challenging year for the entertainment industry, but what better way to celebrate than by honoring the countless talented individuals who have dedicated themselves to keeping genre entertainment alive.”  

This year’s Saturn Award eligibility period for TV programs is from July 2022 through the end of July 2023, while film is extended to September 2023. The Annual Award categories include (but are not limited to): FILM — Best Sci-Fi Film, Best Superhero Film, Best Fantasy/Adventure Film, Best Horror Film, Best Animated Film, Best Action/Thriller Film, Best Achievement in Direction, Best Achievement in Screenwriting, Best Achievement in Prosthetics and Make-Up Effects, and Best Achievement in Visual Effects. TELEVISION — Best Science Fiction Television Series, Best Fantasy Television Series, Best Horror Television Series, Best NEW Television Series, Best Actor in a Television Series, Best Actress in a Television Series, among others.

The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror is a non-profit organization founded in 1972 by film historian Doctor Donald A. Reed and is supported by several hundred genre enthusiasts and professionals (such as JJ Abrams, Dean Devlin, Gale Anne Hurd, Guillermo Del Toro, Greg Berlanti, and Kevin Feige) who have participated in the ongoing efforts of the Academy to promote genre film production and television programming since 1972. The organization is currently headed by President Robert Holguin and Saturn leaders Bradley Marcus and Kevin Marcus.
